Necessity of including wellness programmes into Modern Medicine.... an overview@ IMWR

Over the past few years, there has been an increasing emphasis placed on overall medical wellness, which is the practice of combining medical treatments with wellness programmes to promote overall health and well-being in different parts of the world. This approach has gained popularity due to its ability to address the root causes of health issues and improve patients' quality of life. As a result, many healthcare providers are incorporating wellness programmes into their medical practices. we welcome the initiative of NMC for including this aspect of health in its new amendment of medical curriculum.

This way of thinking about health care is based on the idea that physical, emotional, and spiritual health are all connected and that taking care of all three can lead to better health. Medical wellness is not just about treating illnesses, but also about preventing them. By adopting a holistic approach to health care, individuals can improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases.

Medical wellness can include a wide range of treatments and services, such as prescription drugs and surgery, as well as alternative therapies like acupuncture, massage, and meditation. The goal of medical wellness is to provide a whole-person approach to health care that gets to the root causes of illness and promotes long-term wellness. With this method, you don't just treat the physical symptoms; you also deal with the mental, emotional, and social factors that affect your health as a whole. By incorporating healthy habits such as regular exercise, proper nutrition, and stress management techniques, individuals can achieve optimal wellness and prevent future health problems.

Preventative care is a key principle of medical wellness. "While getting preventive care lowers the risk of diseases, disabilities, and death, millions of people in our country do not receive recommended preventive health care services.

This means having the information to take care of their health by doing things like getting regular checkups and screenings, eating a healthy diet, working out regularly, and understanding stress. By focusing on prevention, medical wellness can help people avoid or minimise the risk of chronic illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Medical wellness can also help individuals save money in the long run by avoiding costly medical treatments that may be required for chronic illnesses. It is important for individuals to prioritise their health and take advantage of preventive care services to ensure a healthier future.

Patient and family education is another important aspect of medical wellness. Medical wellness practitioners will work with patients to help them understand their health conditions and make informed decisions about their treatment options, as well as develop a long-term plan to maintain their health while working on the reversal. This can include providing resources and education on healthy lifestyle choices, as well as explaining the advantages and disadvantages of various medical treatments.

Medical wellness also emphasises the significance of individualised care i.e. self-Healthcare. Each patient is unique, with their own set of health concerns and goals, and medical wellness practitioners consider this when developing treatment plans. Medical wellness can provide more effective and efficient care that is better suited to the patient's needs by tailoring treatment to the individual.
In addition to traditional medical treatments, complementary therapies like yoga, acupuncture, and massage can be used as part of medical wellness, as long as they are done under supervision. These therapies can help people feel less stressed, less pain, and more relaxed, all of which can improve their health. Medical wellness will include nutrition counselling, working on various fitness parameters, and other wellness programmes to help patients achieve optimal health.

Medical wellness also focuses on preventive care and education, which gives patients the tools they need to take charge of their own health and make changes to their lifestyles that can prevent health problems from happening in the future. By addressing the root causes of illness and promoting overall well-being, medical wellness can lead to better long-term health outcomes for patients.

Wellness in medicine will not be limited to the treatment of illness; rather, it will emphasise the promotion of overall health and well-being. Medical wellness can assist individuals in achieving optimal health and living lives that are happier and more fulfilling by taking a holistic approach to healthcare that takes into account all aspects of the individual, including the mind, body, and spirit.
The proposed "Institute of Medical Wellness and Research" aims to explore this aspect of medical education and work quietly to develop this field through education and raising awareness among medical professionals and policymakers. In order to make the country proud, "Global Self-Healthcare Education and Research" is committed to establishing IMWR.
