Understand the distinctions between Health, Wellness, Physical activity, and Fitness in order to select the best option for you!

Health, wellness, physical activity, and fitness are all related ideas, but we can't use them all the same way. Each of these terms has its own unique definition and purpose. We can make conscious decisions about how to best care for our overall well-being when we have a thorough understanding of the distinctions between these concepts.

A person is said to be healthy when they are in a state of complete mental, physical, and social well-being. It is not simply the absence of disease or infirmity; rather, it is a state of optimal functioning in every aspect of one's life. You can live a healthy life by making a number of healthy choices every day. These choices include eating a diet that is balanced, getting enough sleep, effectively managing stress, and avoiding harmful behaviours such as smoking.

The concept of Wellness refers to more than just one's physical health; rather, it emphasises one's overall sense of balance and harmony. In addition to one's physical health, it requires making a conscious effort to engage in behaviours and pursuits that are beneficial to one's mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Meditation, yoga, and other mind-body practices like mindfulness can fall into this category. By incorporating these practices into one's daily routine, individuals can achieve a state of optimal wellness that allows them to live fulfilling and satisfying life. Ultimately, wellness is about taking a holistic approach to health and well-being and making choices that support all aspects of oneself.

Physical activity refers to any movement that requires energy expenditure, such as walking, running, or lifting weights. A physically active person has a better circulatory system, which allows for better tissue perfusion than a sedentary person. Regular physical activity is important for maintaining good health and reducing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer.

Fitness means being able to do physical activities or tasks quickly and without much effort. A person who is physically fit is one who can complete strenuous activities such as running a marathon, lifting heavy objects, or performing complex movements such as gymnastics. They also have the endurance necessary to complete such activities. Physical fitness is not only limited to physical abilities but also includes mental health and overall well-being.
